Our Story

Providing life skills and occupational training for people with learning disabilities

We aim to provide a friendly, encouraging and rewarding environment. We create opportunities for people with learning disabilities to develop life skills which helps to build confidence and self esteem. We offer hands on work projects to develop life skills for learning disabled adults aged 16+. Activities include woodwork, gardening, textiles, arts & crafts, nature walks, sports, dance, music and drama.

At WORK Ltd, we believe a caring, supportive and rewarding environment encourages our students to reach their full potential.

“We are lucky to have such a little gem on our doorstep! A lovely relaxing place to have a coffee and a bite to eat with some lovely gifts on sale and smiley staff.

Suzanne Elizabeth Cutts

WORK Ltd began with just twelve students in 1995. From these humble beginnings it has now grown dramatically and serves over 78 students each week, with a dedicated team of staff tailoring support for each individual to meet their specific needs.

We operate as a small charitable organisation based in Sheffield. Our premises and services are sustained by public donations and the proceeds from our award winning cafe and unique gift shop along with our newly launched online shop.

The Working Day

With different personalities to work with, it’s important that we keep things fresh with our curriculum. That’s why we offer a variety of activities throughout the week. With a six week set timetable for each project, we give everyone the opportunity and space to finish their creation.

We then go on to sell these in the Hidden Gem (our cafe), putting the profits straight back into our charity.
